129 Collection of three types of vegetables taken from the following list:-     
    3 carrots, 2 cauliflowers, 3 onions, 3 parsnips, 6 pods of peas, 3 potatoes, 6 runner beans, 6 tomatoes, 6 pods of French Beans, 2 sweetcorn, 3 peppers, 2 cucumbers, 3 courgettes, 2 red beet, 2 aubergines. Each type of vegetable will be judged - 7 points for size, shape and colour, 7 points for condition 6 points for uniformity. All vegetables are to be displayed for effect, within a space 46 x 60cm (18in x 24in ) without bending any part. A black cloth is permitted, and the tray may be painted.  Parsley is allowed for garnishing, but no other foliage, plates, sand or rings are allowed.  Onions to be tied with raffia.

  130 Vase of mixed flowering stems containing between 5 and 10 stems, from a minimum of two different kinds.  The display will be judged as follows - 25 points for colour, form, condition, quality and freshness of flowers, and 10 points for overall presentation.

  HOME ECONOMICS CLASSES    
          
  All jams to be shown in 1lb glass jars, or the metric equivalent.  No proprietary names on lids or jars.      
    Only new metal lids to be used on pickles and chutneys and wax discs & cellophane tops to be used on all jams.  Labels must clearly show the name  of the contents and the full date when made.    
  All foods are to be covered.  All cakes to be displayed on doilies.

  RECIPES    
       
  Courgette & Hazelnut Cake:  100gm (4oz) chopped hazelnuts,  225gm ( 8oz ) castor sugar,      
    3 medium eggs, 210ml ( 7fl oz ) sunflower oil,  30ml ( 1 fl oz ) walnut oil,  225gm ( 8oz ) courgettes topped and tailed,  280gm ( 10oz ) S R flour, ¼ teasp. Salt, 1 teasp.  Ground cinnamon, 23cm (9in )cake tin.    
    Method:   Put sugar, eggs, and oils into a bowl, and whisk until  thick- 3-4 mins.  Grate courgettes and squeeze in a tea towel to remove water.  Add courgettes to oil mixture.  Sift flour, salt, and cinnamon into bowl.  Fold gently and add nuts.  Put into oiled tin and bake at 180ºC or gas Mark 4 for 50-55 mins.    
       
    Victoria Sandwich:  175g ( 6oz ) castor sugar.  175gm ( 6oz ) margarine,  175gm ( 6oz ) S R flour,  3 eggs,  pinch of salt.  Bake in two 18cm ( 7in ) round tins at 180º C or gas Mark 4 for approx 30 mins, sandwich  together with jam only, dust with castor sugar.    
       
    Fruit Cake:  225gm (8oz ) S R flour,  175gm ( 6oz ) margarine,  125gm ( 5oz ) castor sugar,  100gm ( 4oz ) currants,  100gm ( 4oz ) sultanas,  50gm ( 2oz ) mixed peel,  50gm ( 2oz ) glace cherries,  3 eggs,  pinch of salt,  milk to mix. Bake in 18cm ( 7in ) round tin at 170º C or gas Mark 3 for approx. 1 hr.
